Rather non-traditional in design, at least for those of use who use the cheap old-style nutcrackers, but so easy to use. This cracks most every nut with ease, with only the occasional nut that doesn't fit quite right. In that case, usually turning the nut slightly allows it to work fine. Better than the usual nutcrackers many times over. This is probably not a bulk nut processor, but if you crack nuts regularly one by one, this might be the item for you (if you can afford it). Probably the best feature is how easy it is on the hands. Be sure to place your other hand over the top to contain occasional flying pieces of shell. The handle is metal and the body is ceramic or porcelain (not plastic). Handle comes off for easy cleaning.

This is a small nutcracker but very well made and sturdy, it really does crack nuts with amazing ease. I am cracking pecans with it. I do not know how it would work for other nuts. But for my purposes it is perfect. I have a lot of nuts to crack and I am very happy with this purchase.

I bought this for my wife who had a hard time cracking nuts using a regular nutcracker ,this works great
she has no problem opening any nuts( filberts,almonds,pecans,walnuts) and once you get used to it, you will get the whole nut at once and the shells stay in it . Well worth the price !
